This animation is a graphical representation of the used colours in a well-known scene from the movie American Beauty. The title splatter scene #1 refers to the analysed scene in which one of the characters is shot dead. In this work the content of the image is reduced to the colours of the scene. The result is an abstract image which reminds of randomly spread paint-splatters. However, the visual appearance is determined by the usage of colour in the movie scene. Using a special software, which I developed for the cineanalogies project, the original film scene was analysed. The size of the coloured circles and their position in space are strictly defined by the colour values of the scene. |
